TITLE A—GENERAL PROVISIONS
ARTICLE 1. DEFINITION
§ 1.00 Definitions of terms used in this Act
Unless stated otherwise in this Act, the following terms have the following meanings:
- "Offense" means conduct for which a sentence to a term of imprisonment or to a fine
is provided by any law of this Republic.
- “Violation” means an offense for which a sentence to a term of imprisonment in
excess of a day cannot be imposed.
- "Misdemeanor" means an offense for which a sentence to a term of imprisonment in
excess of a day may be imposed, but for which a sentence to a term of imprisonment in excess of five days cannot be imposed.
- "Felony" means an offense for which a sentence to death or a term of imprisonment
in excess of 5 days may be imposed.
- "Crime" means a misdemeanor or a felony.
- “Person” means an individual, and where appropriate, a corporation, a company, and
an association.
- "Public servant" means (a) any public officer or employee of the government, or (b)
any person exercising the functions of any such public officer or employee.
