The Supreme Court, as well as any inferior courts which may exercise original or appellate jurisdiction over Capital Offenses may issue a stay of execution if there are appeals pending in regards to the judgment of conviction and review of the sentence. Such stays may be issued sua sponte, or as a result of a petition put forth by a party to an appeal.
