(a) A person is guilty of the offense of Counterfeiting when they counterfeit, fabricate, or create any banknote, coin, money, financial instrument, or securities without lawful authority.

(b) Except as otherwise provided in this section, Counterfeiting is a First-Degree Misdemeanor.

(c) If the Counterfeiting involved the unlawful creation of money, securities, or other instruments for which the value exceeds one thousand (1,000) Kramers, but does not exceed five thousand (5,000) Kramers, the offense shall be enhanced, and it is a Third-Degree Felony.

(d) If the Counterfeiting involved the unlawful creation of money, securities, or other instruments for which the value exceeds five thousand (5,000) Kramers, the offense shall be enhanced, and it is a Second-Degree Felony.
