(a) A person is guilty of the offense of Forgery when they, with the intent to defraud or deceive, falsely make, forge, counterfeit, alter, or tamper with—
(1) the signature of a government official or member of staff;
(2) a document issued by any entity of the federal government;
(3) any records maintained by an entity of the federal government;
(4) any records required to be maintained by law; or,
(5) the signature of any person on any document or agreement.
(b) Except as otherwise provided in this section, Forgery is a Third-Degree Felony.
(c) If the Forgery involved the falsification of or tampering with government records, an Act of Congress, an executive order, or a judgment of a court, the offense shall be enhanced, and it is a Second-Degree Felony.
(d) If the Forgery involved the falsification of or tampering with any election materials or voter records, the false personation of a government official, or results in substantial disruption to a court, legal proceeding, public administration, or the operations of the government generally, the offense shall be enhanced, and it is a First-Degree Felony.
