(a) A person is guilty of the offense of Extortion by an Official when they—
(1) as a government official or member of staff take, withhold, threaten to take or withhold any official act while in office; or
(2) as any person, cause or threaten to cause any official act to be taken or withheld;
in order to harm or negatively impact the interests of another, unless said person acts to further the interests of the official or provides money, a position, a job, a benefit, or any other thing or item of actual or perceived value to said official or any other person.
(b) Extortion by an Official is a Second-Degree Felony.
